Solaris professional development track

A ballet corps in white romantic tutus before a painted village.

Solaris, Bloom's professional development track, is for trained dancers aged 18 and up (recent high-school dance graduates, college students, instructors and experienced dancers) who want to keep developing as performers or teachers. It has two offerings.

Rotating technique classes in ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, jazz, partnering and improvisation run in fall, winter, spring and summer: a single drop-in is $20, a 5-class package $95 and a 10-class package $180; a class needs six dancers or is cancelled 12 hours ahead with the credit returned.

Professional development sessions are taken as full courses, not drop-ins: 5-week methodology sessions on teaching, production and choreography at $150 per session, and a summer-only choreography and performance class that ends with a showing and needs the director's pre-approval.

Solaris technique classes are not recommended without formal training in that style; Bloom's adult classes are the better fit for less-trained dancers. The name means "of the sun": at Bloom every level is a flower, and Solaris is the sun that brings warmth and guidance to the younger generations.
